My twitpic made it to the todayshow blog!

Check out the TodayShow Blog for 9/28/09; my twitpic from work made it to the blog and yes I am really excited. Well I am excited because well I am a fan of the show and have been for as long as I can remember, but to finally get a shout out from them it's pretty cool. I want to thank the academy, my friends and family for this recognition...
I have to confess that it really took me by surprise. I tweet to @TodayShow on a regular basis, but mainly to complain about M. Viera, who's skills as a news reporter really really annoy me or to praise Ann Curry who is terrific and a role model to women everywhere.
Back to the picture now; mine is the one on the left side bottom row, I normally wake up with the TodayShow and we have it on in the therapy gym at work for patient's to watch (and yes for staff too!). I don't think I will stop complaining about Meredith Viera, because now I know they are listening. I'm just saying...

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Tullah is a 3 y/o (or so the vet thinks) English Bulldog that I adopted from the local county shelter. She is sweet and very well behaved, although a little skittish for a Bulldog, she hates loud noises, sudden movements, I am not really sure what happened before I adopted. She loves the company of her "adopted" sister Molly the Boston Terrier, her daily neighborhood walks, and riding in the car. She's brought a lot of joy to the family!

FL Marlins vs Phillies

Sitting at Landshark Stadium watching a FL Marlins vs Phillies double header. The good thing is that I'm not at work and it's a beautiful day. The bad thing is that the stadium is practically empty and most of the fans here are Phillies fans! Maybe that is the price to pay when you play baseball in a football stadium, or maybe it is the reality of the van wagon So. Fla fans that only support their teams when they are doing well or in the playoffs. I have to be greatful for the opportunity to come and support the Marlins, great seats, good company and the fact that I can blog from my Iphone because this is one boring game! I'm just saying...

My take on the Emmy's

The Emmy's are off to a great start! I have to say that Neil Patrick Harris looks amazing in his tux and the whole concept of the host actually hosting is brilliant! I never understood why the award show hosts go in and out and are only onstage for 50% of the actual show, so way to go Neil. I believe he actually is a producer on this year's show.

The dance performance by Maxim and Karina from DWTS was great. I remember when Candice Bergen took herself from the nominations after winning so many times for Murphy Brown, well The Amazing Race it's time that you guys do the same! Five in a row is a nice record, let others play, I'm just saying...

I did not care for Jon Cryer's vest, he looked out of the Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Heart Club album cover. Toni Colette's win over Tina Fey may have come as a shocker to some but US of Tara is a great show and Toni is brilliant in it, come on she plays five different characters!

The In Memoriam presentation with Sarah McLachlan was very moving. It was nice to see Michael J. Fox looking well.

In the Drama Series category was so tough, the leading ladies were all so deserving, but let's face it Glenn Close is "da bomb" in Damages. I stroke out in many of the categories this year, but at least I picked Glenn Close, 30 Rock as the winners.
I guess I have to start watching Madmen and see if I catch Grey Gardens on HBO.

Well the Emmy's concluded and it marks the beginning of the new TV season, let's see which new shows survive and which bite the dust...

Jay Leno at 10 pm

I have been watching Jay Leno this week in the new 10 pm time slot. I have to say that having Kanye as a guest after the VMA's fiasco, was a good move, but the whole interview was a joke. Jay was trying to be sympathetic and caring, seriously that's why we have Ann Curry. Jay needed to use the same line he used on Hugh Grant years ago: "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?".
Seinfeld and Robin Williams were actually funnier than Jay, Williams playing harmonica with the band was brilliant, the Oprah video skit was amazing! But Jay looks highly uncomfortable without his desk. The monologue, the skits and videos are great, in that time slot stick to more of that, forget about the interviews, leave that for the daytime talk show hosts. Have the guests be part of the skits and make people laugh. Burn those ugly blue chairs and stick to the funny stuff., I'm just saying...

Ellen on AI

By now the hoopla about Ellen being the 4th judge on American Idol is dying, but I wanted to share my humble opinion about the situation. I am a big fan of Ellen, even before she became the huge start she is know, even before her sitcom, I saw her perform several times at local comedy clubs at the recommendation of a friend that had attended Loyola University.
When the Tweets filled cyberspace with the news about Ellen in AI, I thought it was a great move by Fox to try to breath life into the show and kill the people's bitching over Paula's departure. Ellen is a self proclaimed big fan of the show, and she brings a whole new demographics to AI, and I am not just talking about her gay and lesbian following.
Ellen stated that she is just a fan, like us (well not like me because I stopped watching the show a few years ago) and she will bring the "fan perspective". I think she will do an awesome job, and contrary to other bloggers point of view, it is not going to be "all about her". She will ramble, that's for sure, but I think she will tell it like it is. With that being said I am actually a little worried about her ability to be objective, because through the years when talking about AI it has been evident that she picks a few favorites and sticks with them. And playing favorites as a judge is tricky business. I will be watching AI again, starting in January 2010, Fox regained another viewer thanks to Ellen, and it will be an entertaining season.

McDonald's Prices

My morning usually starts with a quick stop at McDonald's for my morning Coke and an egg McMuffin, usually $4.36 (tax) at my neighborhood McD's. That's $2.48 for the sandwich and $1.59 for my medium coke. This week I did my usual stop and it was $4.37, now my sandwich is $2.49. Inflation I thought, the economy, everyone has to make a penny.
Today I went to the McDonald's in my old neighborhood and surprise!, my regular meal was $4.04, my sandwich was $2.19 at my old McDonald's. That's a 30 cents difference, and the restaurants are 4 miles apart! Granted, it is not worth it for me to drive every morning to my old neighborhood to save 30 cents, and I understand the difference between franchise owned vs. corporate owned, but 30 cents it's a little steep. I'm just saying...

Where not to eat while in Old San Juan, PR

On recent blogs I’ve been letting you know about one of my favorite restaurants in Old San Juan, Raices. Now I am going to let you now were not to eat while in Old San Juan.

During a recent visit I had the opportunity to eat at Marisqueria Atlantica (Atlantic Seafood) #7 Calle Lugo Vinas, Puerta de Tierra, Old San Juan. The restaurant has been in this location longer than I can remember, however, this was my first visit. Marisqueria Atlantica has an old style “steakhouse” feel to it, but it is a seafood restaurant. The waiting staff is all male, which in this day and age it’s inconceivable; I don’t care what asinine law or statute the Puerto Rican government has created to exempt this establishment from not observing EEOC rules.

We ordered oysters, paella, fish and steak; yes someone ordered steak at a seafood restaurant, but that’s another blog. The oysters were not fresh, the cocktail sauce was bitter, and the Tabasco sauce was vinegary. In reality you can get better oysters from a cart on the side of the road in Boqueron, PR. The paella had good flavor, but it was mostly rice and no seafood, and the rice was under cooked. I can’t tell you were to get good paella in PR, but Miami has several places that you can get paella at a much reasonable price. The fish was good and fresh; the steak, well I don’t think my dogs would have eaten it. So overall the service, which was awful, and the food quality do not justify the price range of most dishes. When visiting PR and craving seafood, take a drive to where the fresh seafood is, places like Cabo Rojo, Aguadilla, Salinas, Ponce, Fajardo, and stay away of Marisqueria Atlantica.

However, if a friend insists on taking you there, take the ride and once you are there walk to El Hamburger, which is another local institution, you will enjoy it.

My tweep petpal @JimmyTerrorist

@JimmyTerrorist is a Boston Terrier and one of my Twitter tweeps, you can follow "him" on twitter.com/JimmyTerrorist Jimmy also has his own webpage at: http://www.dogster.com/dogs/633940 and he will tell you that "bitches love him" and I love him too. Jimmy amuses my days with his 'terrorist drive by' updates, his disdain for squirrels and "nakkid homanz" followers on Twitter, and his endless need to pee, dig and beg for cookies. He is also very sweet and will shower you with *snorts and smoochies*
Jimmy's use of the English language is quite creative and he has many petpals and "hoomanz" followers on Twitter. I imagine that Jimmy's human soul is a teenager that has a great respect for his/her mom who is a Veterinarian. But maybe I am wrong.
Like Jimmy's human soul there are many in Twitter, people that take the time and have the creativity to see life through their pets mind and point of view and share it with the world. They are able to capture the essence of their Boston Terrier soul's and express it in words.
I've had three Boston Terriers; Max, Megan and Molly and I see a little bit of each of them in @JimmyTerrorist and his updates warm my soul.
